Suminagashi is a traditional Japanese technique in which a brush is gently run across the surface of water, creating patterns that ripple like delicate waves.

A skilled artisan carefully forms each design with great care, then transfers its fleeting beauty onto a fan in a single, fluid motion. The patterns, born from the natural flow of water, are never the same twice — a true reflection of nature’s artistry.

Today, there are only a handful of craftsmen in Japan who have inherited this art, making each piece an exceptionally rare and precious work of craftsmanship.
