Gamaguchi-Wallet (Sumac Dyeing)
Founded in 1852, KOUICHI STORE has always pursued tradition and innovation. This attitude is evident in our products.
This Gamaguchi-wallet is made of kimono fabric with a ground pattern of cherry blossoms.
Gamaguchi-Wallets are said to be items that bring good luck in money.
This time, we have prepared a special color to commemorate the opening: Sumac Dyeing.
This Sumac Dyeing is a color that was once forbidden (kinjiki) and only the emperor was allowed to wear it.
It is dyed using Japanese sumac, and its greatest feature is that its color changes to reddish brown when exposed to sunlight.
The color was strictly forbidden to anyone other than the emperor’s entourage, and was considered a “phantom dye.
We hope you will enjoy the change in color of the Japanese sumac dye called “phantom dye” with our Gamaguchi-Wallets.

How to use the Gamaguchi-Wallet
The Gamaguchi-Wallet that fits in the palm of your hand is useful as a small purse.
It can also be used to hold drinking pills, eye drops, or regular medicine, or to store small items such as nail clippers or tweezers when traveling, so they don’t get bulky in the bag.
It can also be used as a snack bag by putting in small packets of snacks or candies to fill your stomach.
